The evolving role of women in Malaysia has certainly come a long way to reach a status where women empowerment plays an important part in the development and progress of our nation, community and family. In lieu of this, a National Women Day has been gazetted on August 25 in appreciation of Malaysian women’s involvement and their achievement to the development of the nation.
“The state level Women’s Day celebration will be held in October this year and various programmes and activities will be organised including an Open Day at Wisma Wanita as well as activities in the district or divisional level,” said Sarawak Women’s Bureau (SWB) Director Norjanah Haji Razali.
SARAWAK REGATTA / IWWF WAKEBOARD WORLD CUP

Among all the sailing and racing event in Malaysia, the aristocrat of them all surely the Sarawak Regatta. Dating back early to as 1872 when the event was first recorded in Sarawak Gazette, the Sarawak Regatta had been around even much longer as a cultural sport event for early communities living in and around the small town of Kuching. Since then, Sarawak Regatta had been a premier water sport event for the State, with distinct historical and cultural significance. It therefore has a long history and colourful past.

Today, no longer do passport applications require a three-week waiting period to be processed as Malaysians can now have their passports ready within a one-hour time frame.
ROMANCING THE GLASS BEAD
